Next Generation Indie Book Awards Honors

Landau Eugene Murphy and Rick Robinson

NEW YORK – America’s Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. returns to the Jacob Javits Center to celebrate the formal release of his award-winning memoir: “America’s Got Talent Winner Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.: From Washing Cars to Hollywood Star.”

For twelve hours on a cold November day in 2010, Landau Murphy stood in line with thousands of other hopeful contestants for the upcoming sixth season of NBC’s America’s Got Talent. That very long day, turned into months as week after week, Landau competed with other contestants. In 2011, millions watched watched an American Jazz singer from the coalfields of West Virginia rise to the top of a talent competition on NBC.

Murphy is back in New York as his memior (co-authored by Rick Robinson) is being formally released by Headline Books during Book Expo America.

“To many people, Landau is the young man with dreadlocks who sings like Sinatra,” says Rick Robinson, 2013 Independent Author of the Year and co-author of Landau’s book. “But the story to be told is that of someone who is a hardworking man of enduring faith. When you’re finished reading this book, you’ll discover, along with having a great voice, Landau is a world-class human being.”

Robinson and Murphy will be honored at the Indie Book Awards Reception for their win for Best Inspirational Book for 2014 at the Harvard Club on Wednesday, May 28 at 5:00 pm. The book also won a Gold Mom’s Choice Award and an honorable mention at the Paris Book Festival. Both authors will be signing books at Book Expo America on Thursday, May 29. Murphy will also be appearing at 54 Below in New York on May 30.

During Book Expo America, Murphy and Robinson will both be available for interviews via the contact numbers listed above.
