Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.

America's Got Talent Winner

"From Washing Cars to Hollywood Star"

In the summer of 2011, more than 14 million viewers each week watched with awe as a gifted vocalist from the coalfields of West Virginia rose to the top spot on NBC TV's "America's Got Talent." The story of Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. is more than a rags-to-riches story of some singer who won a reality show it's a story of faith, hope, destiny, and dreams. To many people, Landau is the young man with dreadlocks who sings like Sinatra, but the story to be told is that of a hard-working man of enduring faith.

Landau Eugene Murphy, the soul-and-Sinatra singing winner of NBC TV's "America's Got Talent," has released his fifth full-length album, titled 'I’m Not Messing Around.'

The follow-up to 2021's "Live In Las Vegas at Caesars Palace", “I’m Not Messing Around” is Landau's first-ever album of all original material. All songs were written or co-written by Landau and the album's producer, Rob Hegel, best known for his work with Air Supply, Labelle's Sarah Dash, and his solo career, which included appearances on American Bandstand and scoring the themes for many network television shows including "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert'.

A baritone vocalist in the traditional pop style, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. is best known as the winner of the sixth season of the NBC reality show America's Got Talent. A native of Logan County, West Virginia, Murphy grew up the son of a minister and first began singing in church. In 2003, an appearance at a local arts-and-crafts fair jump started his career. In 2011, Murphy auditioned for and later won America's Got Talent. He sang Frank Sinatra's "My Way" during his final performance. Murphy released his debut album, That's Life, on Sony in November of 2011. ~ Matt Collar
