Duane Flesher

Fast Facts

Instrument: Piano

How long have you been playing?: For 46 years

What do you do when you’re not playing with Landau?: I’m a keyboardist with Mountain State Funk, a pianist with the Smoot Theatre House Band, and I enjoy the grandkids.

Who are some other notable artists you’ve played with or gigs you’ve played?:  I was a pianist with the 661st Air Force Logistics Command Band at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, now known as the Air Force Band of Flight. Also: The Four Freshman, Pied Pipers, Danny and the Juniors.

What’s your most memorable Landau gig?: The most memorable was our trip to Germany, getting to play for our troops and their families who are stationed there.

What’s your favorite part of playing with Landau?: In addition to the great music and watching his rapport with his audience during a show, I enjoy knowing him personally and knowing that he is the same person offstage that he is onstage. “What you see is what you get” to quote an often used saying.

What are some of your hobbies and other interests?: I enjoy writing and arranging music for various size groups, going to the various activities of my grandchildren and attending concerts or other theatrical productions, both locally and at one of the theatres at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio. And I always enjoy going to an Indians or a Browns game.

What advice do you have for young musicians?: Work hard at your craft so that when the opportunity comes along, you are ready to meet the challenge. A friend of mine once said, “Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes you prepared.” Keep your eye on your goal and don’t give up on your dream.
