(Columbus, OH) Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., landslide winner of NBC’s hit television show America’s Got Talent, will perform for the first time in the Columbus area at the brand new Hollywood Casino this Sunday night April 28th. Landau will play an up-close and intimate gig with his jazz combo, showcasing classic tunes from the Great American Songbook and his top selling Columbia Records debut CD “That’s Life”. The free performance is part of the “o.h. Unplugged” concert series at Hollywood Casino, which is fast becoming a top Ohio entertainment destination.
Murphy, a native of Logan WV, had humble beginnings before scoring the top slot on America’s Got Talent in front of a record 14 million weekly viewers. The former small town auto detailer went from washing cars to Hollywood stars, winning the hearts of judges Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan, Howie Mandel and TV viewers everywhere as he made his way to the top with his smooth jazz vocals and humble, gracious character. After being crowned the winner of AGT’s sixth season in September 2011, Landau released his first album “That’s Life,” which went on to debut at #1 on the Billboard jazz charts and the top 40 overall. Not only did his unique singing style make him stand out from the competition, but Landau’s humility, charm and confidence endeared him to the AGT judges, viewers and audiences at his sold-out concert tour that launched in December of 2011 and continues to go on strong. Recent tour stops have included Harlem’s legendary Apollo Theatre, The California State Fair, Detroit’s DTE Energy Amphitheatre co-headlining with the legendary Temptations, the Hollywood Christmas Parade and a record 5 sold out nights at the 1900 seat Clay Center for the Performing Arts. TV and radio appearances have included The View, The Talk, The Anderson Cooper Show, The Wendy Williams Show, CNN Showbiz Tonight, The Today Show, Fox and Friends, The Tom Joyner Show and Sirius/XM Radio. Landau and the band also performed for U.S. troops overseas this past Veteran’s Day in conjunction with Armed Forces Entertainment.
Landau’s performance at Hollywood Casino is free and open to guests 21 and over. Landau will be available after the performance to meet attendees, pose for photographs, and sign autographs.

The Ride to Survive benefit is to help Skyler Miller, Ben Gillman and Gabe Lyall and their families as they struggle with chemo treatments and other healthcare issues associated with cancer. The event will take place in the city of Logan and on the Bearwallow Trailhead on Saturday, April 13th.
"These kids are facing some major health problems. The community has stepped up to help out and our staff also wanted to assist so we put together this event to help them. All proceeds will go to the families," noted Jeff Lusk, Executive Director of the Hatfield-McCoy Trails who explained that it was only natural that HMT should step up to help out considering all the projects that are taking place to help the trio of brave children in the battle of their lives.
The Ride to Survive event will kick off with registration at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the sports complex on Middleburg Island in Logan, and will feature a little star power along the way, according to Lusk.
"We will be leaving the island at 12:30 with America's Got Talent winner Landau Murphy Jr. leading the procession. We will also have live music from The Easy Street Band and Kaitlin Boytek, kids face painting, hot dogs, chips, drinks, and churches doing bake sales, along with fun activities such as face painting, t-shirts, raffles- so come and enjoy the day and help make this ride a success!"
For those who do not ride ATVs or dirtbikes there will still be plenty of fun, food and the opportunity to participate, noted Hatfield-McCoy's Shannon Deer Orso, who emphasized you do not have to ride to have fun and help these children. `"If you don't have a machine or you just don't want to ride, you don't have to. There will be entertainment, food, and kids activities set up on the island," she explained. "We are having 500 t-shirts printed to sell for $10 and registration to ride is also $10. The entertainment is free and everything else will cost no more than a few dollars. We will also have a raffle of prizes and a donation area so BRING YOUR WALLETS and lets help these families."

“Jacob did a lot of the early work getting the event ready,” France said. “He was passionate about making this happen and he put in a lot of work.”
Adkins contacted enough past players to form two teams. These teams will face off in the charity basketball game. Cheerleading coach Michelle Akers has assembled an alumni cheerleader squad to cheer on the guys at the event.
