What do you do when you’re not playing with Landau?: I’m a professor of Saxophone and Jazz Studies at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Who are some other notable artists you’ve played with or gigs you’ve played?: The Phil Collins Big Band, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, numerous bands backing the likes of Lou Rawls, the Temptations, Donna Summer, Mel Torme, the Four Tops, and more. I have also performed in the US and abroad as a classical saxophonist.
What’s your most memorable Landau gig?: Our first performances at the Clay Center in Charleston were great – sold-out shows to throngs of Landau fans!
What’s your favorite part of playing with Landau?: Not only is Landau a great entertainer, but the band is made up of the region’s finest musicians. It’s been great getting to know them all.
What are some of your hobbies and other interests?: Hiking, biking, and beer brewing.
What advice do you have for young musicians?: Embrace all styles of music, start studying privately with an instructor at least by high school, and perform to your highest potential no matter the size of the audience or location of the venus. You never know who might be listening!
